Our Philosophy
Throughout 20 of experience in the building and remodeling industry, we have worked diligently to master the building process. We know what questions to ask, and when to ask them. Most importantly, we know how to make you feel comfortable through every step of construction, from site prep to floor plan selection, custom kitchen design to bathroom fixtures and paint colors.
Meet the Team

Kevin Merta
FOUNDER
Kevin is a second generation builder with 25 years of professional construction industry experience. He holds a degree in Electrical Engineering and has been involved in over 100 residential projects.

Jean Merta
DESIGN
Jean is focused on maintaining good relationships between the buyer and the build projects. Jean started her career in Medical sales and became district manager for Cook Medical-a Global medical device manufacturer. Since joining Custom Estate Homes, she has overseen the design and sale of over 50 luxury build projects.

Dillon Norton
DEVELOPMENT
Dillon specializes in long term strategy and problem solving. He started his career helping raise capital for Startup companies in Boston and Silicon Valley. In his tenure at Custom Estate Properties, he has managed the development and construction of over 30 luxury build projects.

Drew Norton
OPERATIONS
Drew specializes in project budgeting, scheduling, and organization. He holds a degree in construction management and started his career working for the firm The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company where he exceeded as a project manager for commercial construction projects.

The Build Process

Property Acquisition
The Custom Estate team and their real estate partners aid our clients on finding and selecting a property that fits the needs of their lifestyle and budget.

Architecture - House Design
We work with many talented architects in the Raleigh area and will recommend certain firms based upon the expressed style and needs of the client.
Once the blueprints get started we will also start the interior design and selection process.

Budget - Contract - Permitting
Once the majority of the design is completed, we take the time upfront to accurately price the project in order for our clients to budget accordingly. We also track these costs throughout the project to limit “surprises”.
Once a contract price has been established and agreed to by the client, we begin the permit process.

Construction - Walkthroughs
Once we start the house, we will have several scheduled walkthroughs to discuss all aspects of construction in order to make sure you are getting everything you’ve always wanted in a luxury custom home.

Keys - Orientation - Warranty
The final step of the process is to hand over the keys, do a quick orientation and let you enjoy the new home you created.
